The Owl Post

Owls are enjoying a good deal of popularity these days. And they deserve it, right? They are adorable! Well, guess what? We have a pair of owls living right outside! They are barn owls and they come out just about every evening to sing for us. The lovely (if eventually annoying) hooting inspired this post. I hope you enjoy it.

Oh, man... Now I feel like an online shopping spreeeeeee!!!

Coming Soon!

James is launching his very own blog! I am so excited about this and I hope you will be, too. You can go on over and check out the introductory page and FOLLOW or save under your favorites in advance. The official launch is set for this Saturday, May 1.

Who is James, you may ask. James is my husband and a sometimes contributor to this very blog. You may remember his recent post about our trip to Congaree. His blog will primarily be about music as that is his passion. It will be image heavy (hooray!), but it will also feature a good deal of his writing. James used to work as Music Editor for a really great alternative weekly where he developed his fun and quirky voice. I know you'll enjoy his style. I do.

Okay, see you there on Saturday!!!

Lost at Sea No More

This week, I've been making lists. It is so satisfying to check things off, but even better is having a sense of direction through the day and motivation to get it all done. I love it. Basically, I put on my list the things I'm going to do no matter what along with a spattering of things I hope to accomplish. So far, I've been pretty good about getting even the more ambitious things done....

Here's my lists for this whole week:

Okay, and I have been exercising every day, but I can't check it off until the end of the week. Here are some daily lists:

I haven't finished the sock, but I did make Chicken Cordon Bleu for dinner and everyone loved it. Yay! We had snap beans and scalloped potatoes on the side.

Oh, and we had a breakfast date this morning! Oh, it was fun. James gets up at 5am (5 AM!!!) to study for finals and I usually sleep until the baby wakes up longs after he's gone to work. I know he likes it when I do get up with him, but it's really hard for me... being pregnant and all. But this morning I got up, made a coffee cake, fixed eggs, sausage, toast and coffee and we called it a breakfast date. Then, he studied while I turned my first heel.

My Sister

This is my sister Isobel:

She is twenty three and 5'5'' tall, lives at home and goes to college locally. She cooks for the household (there are 9 people) and is dedicated to changing the decor in her room almost constantly. I think that room has probably been painted twenty times since I moved out and she took it over! Isobel is possibly Beatrice's favorite person.  This is what her hair used to look like:

Her hair is currently fairly short, but she's growing it out. She's dying to have long hair again, so she takes vitamins and uses special shampoo to promote faster growth. There's always been a bit of a competition between us to have longer hair than the other.
Isobel comes over on Wednesdays. We play with Bea and hang out and make a big dinner. Tonight we are making Chicken Cordon Bleu.
Yum!

Idea

Beatrice is going to move up to a twin bed before too long to make room for the new baby (who is currently about the size of an apple). This is a bit of a jump for a girl so small. She will only be 18 months when the baby arrives. Anyway, I'll have to totally re-do the room, but I want it to still be natural and comfortable to Beatrice. SOOOO, I am going to make a big old twin size quilt for her out of her special things. The blankets we swaddled her in, the dresses she's outgrown, etc. I think it will be a wonderful thing for her to carry through life!

Super!

I rarely buy something awesome for Beatrice to rock. Usually I have a lot of self-control and tell myself it will someday show up at the local Goodwill. This was too good to pass up!

PUGS!!!!
James says no way, of course. He says he doesn't get it... It must be a girl thing. Jake likes them though. So there! I found these on weheartit.com.
