Another Hair Post- Short Hair

This may come as a shock to some of you dedicated followers, but I'm looking at short styles. I want to share my tops with you today and get some feedback if you'd be so kind.

Be honest, now.

Yuck!

James made her do this because it made him laugh. Once we've all enjoyed it, I'll delete this post and all evidence so that she won't ever be embarrassed by the cruelty of her parents. Poor thing.

Post-Baby-Bod

So you already know that I'm updating my closet. This is an example of the bright-feminine-colorfulness I'm going for.

Shirt-new (to me)- it's from Plato's Closet.
Belt- I've had it forever- Old Navy.
Undershirt- Danskin.
Skirt- A gift from my mother-in-law actually.
Not Picture: hot pink tights, gray-slouch-ankle booties from Target.

Dressy Bessy

I don't know what this band sounds like, but I love the look. Check it out.

Key takeaway? If you wear your hair short around your face, make sure your eyebrows mean business!

Anyway, these guys are out of Athens, GA and I'm pretty sure I saw that curly headed guy (the one in the last picture) play with Elf Power Apples in Stereo once at the 40 Watt.

Changing things up.

Do you ever want to throw out everything in your wardrobe and start from scratch?

I do. Right now.

Then I'll get a bunch of colorful clothes and I. Will. Rock.

It's time for me to start re-inventing my personal style. These are the most important elements: colorful (so I feel happy), rockin' (for confidence), goofy (for comfort, i.e. so I feel like me).

The leotard at the bottom is an idea for what to wear to see the Flaming Lips and would be worn with bright tights and bright socks over the knees. And probably an anime wig. (I love leotards/unitards/rompers right now!!!)

A Hair Post

Some brainstorming on paper. Not making any decisions, just playing.

Ignore the bobcat.

IMHO, I think that mullet-shag is pretty hottt.

This Week

...has been full of ups and downs.

A major Up was when we went downtown! I wanted Beatrice to have her first taste of bubble tea:

And she wanted me to taste it, too:

It was a long, long walk from the Hyatt to Falls Park. There where lots of families and lots of puppy dogs! Ambrose rode in the snugli and he wore a handsome bonnet because there was too much sun:

A serious Down this week was hearing Dick Estell on National Public Radio call Nicholas Sparks the world's preeminent chronicler of the human heart, the world's best loved storyteller.

An Up was when Mama watched the kids so that James and I could go our first date of 2011!!! We had a great dinner, some coffee and saw Black Swan. (Loved it! Hope Natalie wins herself an Oscar!)

Down: realizing that I'm not at all happy with my current wardrobe/physical appearance.

Up: deciding that I need a total make-over and starting by ordering an eyebrow kit and shopping for a few select items to get me going in the right direction. I'm really excited about re-inventing myself -and I love having James' full support!

Down: baring my soul to someone close to me over the phone only to find she had the volume up and people were laughing at me in the background.

Up: keeping it real by letting her know how totally not cool that was!

How was your week?

Unitards, etc.

I don't know why I never see people wearing unitards. I think they are brilliant and I'm very proud to say that my sister Emma sports a teal one quite often. I did a little online window shopping and found a lovely gold unitard. The site also recommended a few more items that they felt I might like:

Unitard, wig, earrings. I just really don't like those shoes though.

They look cheap.

Jake

I wish that I had a lot of money and I could make my friends wear whatever I wanted them to wear because Jake should wear some of these clothes.

The Story of My Kindle

My insurance company sent me a gift card when I was pregnant with Bea and the note said they would add to it any time I went to a scheduled appointment. I looked it up online and found that it was to be used toward medical expenses.

What medical expenses? That's what the insurance is for.

I never used it and really just forgot about it.

So the other day I was cleaning out an older pocket book and found the card. I decided I'd call and get the 411 before just throwing it away.

The girl on the phone said  it could be used for:

1. Over-the-counter medicine, but only with a prescription

2. My prescription co-pay (which is $3)

3. Public transportation (not really useful in this area)

4. Oh, she said, you can also use it at amazon.com. But you should probably use it as fast as you can because it looks like it was already set to expire at the end of 2010. You must be in some kind of grace period.

That was on Tuesday and my new Kindle got here today!!!

I'm pretty excited about it because I enter giveaways all the time (like a few times a week) and I NEVER WIN ANYTHING! So Woo-Hoo!

(So far I've put a bunch of classics, Scarlet Pimpernel and an ESV Bible on there.)

The Ponytail (another hair post)

Now that my hair is long enough, it's pretty much always in a ponytail :(
This is why I invariably end up cutting it. Ponytails are so convenient, yet so boring.
Well, not this one. Messy, bouffant, playful, stylish. This is what I strive for. (for what I strive, you grammar nazis)

Hair, Pink Hair

Now that I have an office job where I have to look all professional? I really, really want faded cotton candy pink hair with powdery blue and yellow bits here and there. Oh, my. This job lasts until April 18th though. (Normally tax season only goes 'til the 15th, but there's a holiday in Washington D.C. that falls on the 15th this year, so they moved the tax deadline just a smidge. Yay for a few extra days of employment!)

Here are some nice colors.

Mmmmm. Pink hair for Valentine's Day would have been such fun! Maybe sometime, I can get get James to do his hair baby blue and I'll have mine baby pink!

Thanks for the Feedback...

So I was at work the other day and I had my blog up at my desk and a co-worker came over.

He said, "I don't like that picture of you."
"Really? I'm sorry to hear that," I kindly replied.
He elaborated a bit, "Well, I just think you look awfully silly."
"I am pretty silly," I said warily.
"You look... nerdy," he continued.
"I am," said I, not detailing my ability to elaborate upon the genealogy of both House Atreides and the Julio-Claudians or translate elvish.
"It's just not attractive," he bluntly stated.

"Well, thanks for your input."

And then I got his picture off our company's website and blogged about it!!!
