Poetry Night #2- Valentine Edition

Emma frosting and sprinkling the red velvet cupcakes.

Plenty... plus lemonade and red wine!

Daddy acting silly before sharing some beautiful and touching poems by Christopher Morely.

Emily looked pensively at the wine as she geared up to give a reading of a  Donne poem.

James was in the mood for some Ogden Nash! Then Nikki and John sang a fun duet. "How could you believe me when I said I loved you when you know I've been a liar all my life?"

Hudson in the aftermath.

Song of the Day No. 63

Zombie ‘Pocalypse

Our immediate future doesn’t look too good
In this abandoned cabin out in the woods
There are too many windows to keep them out
Our very survival is now in doubt

Hey! They want to eat our brains
Zombie, zombie ‘pocalypse
Zombie, zombie ‘pocalypse

If we all band together we can fight them off
The only way to kill ‘em is to blow their heads off
But without any weapons we just hafta run
Down to the sporting goods to grab us some guns

Hey! They want to eat our brains
Zombie, zombie ‘pocalypse
Zombie, zombie ‘pocalypse

Song of the Day No. 62

Blues

The sky cracked open
And blood poured from the sky
The sky cracked open
And blood rained out the sky
The fires was all frozen
I could not believe my eyes

Evil winds was blowin’
The sun hid ‘hind the clouds
Evil winds a blowin’
Sun hid ‘hind the clouds
Don’t know where I was goin’
If it be up or down

Missing my sweet Jesus
Where the good Lord be?
Missing that sweet Jesus
Where the good Lord be?
Can’t believe that he would leave us
Let the devil run wild and free

Song of the Day No. 61

In the Night

I drown in swirling shallows
And sleep in the arms of shadows
In the night, in the night
The cold makes my soul shiver
As I drink from the bloody river
In the night, in the night

There is no guiding light
There is no wrong or right
Such grim and awful sights
And sensual delights
In the night, in the night

I breathe the perfumed air
And tear the clothes you wear
In the night, in the night
You used to be so special
Now you’re an empty, broken vessel
In the night, in the night

The full moon lights my way
Through thorny paths of clay
The smell of blood, alluring
Is fetid, sharp and lurid
In the night, in the night

Song of the Day No. 60

Some short songs today!

Dream: Parade in my Head

There is a parade
Going through my head
And lots of lemonade
Raining down upon the bed
There’s confetti everywhere
Glitter hanging in the air
And everyone is made
Of clouds I heard it said

Doppelganger No. 2

W could have been twins, she and I
We both looked just alike
She was my female doppelganger
It was a shame I had to hang her
Now all I ever do is cry

Yesterday...

was a good day! We played and played. Then around 11 am (right after Beatrice's morning nap) I got the brilliant idea to go on a picnic. So I loaded up a bag with baby food, Hudson's quilt (I didn't know if it might be a bit wet, so I didn't risk bringing her quilt), some monkeys and a soccor ball. Off we went and it was COLD! We didn't stay more than 10 minutes.
When we got home- boy, was she hungry! I gave her some bread to munch on while a fixed lunch. I guess we'll have to wait a few more weeks to get some real picnic weather.
Then to top it all off, when I got home from work last night I got to cuddle her to sleep...
