Miss Franklin

There is a park near where we live called McPherson Park, but my favorite little girl calls it Miss Franklin's. And she begs to go there everyday. It really is a good park with a playground in the middle of a sunny, mulchy expanse, a covered picnic area and proximity to downtown. There is also part of the Reedy River going through the park.

Yesterday Bea walked right into the river. Shoes and all. And sat down.

It reminded me so much of how it feels to be a child. Something looks like it would be fun, so you do it! It doesn't matter that you will be wet for the rest of the time you are out or that next time you go out your carseat will still be wet. In fact, those things don't cross your mind. There is only the cool water on you and the warm sun and the freedom of being young.

Please also enjoy the pictures of my mantle, which I have wanted to share for awhile but lacked a context. Who needs a context anyway?

James' music is really good. If you haven't heard it, you are missing out. Go to this site and listen to track 6. It makes me happy every time. And please, don't look at the picture on that site. I look ghastly.

Our Room

I have had the same comforter on my bed for over a decade now. And it entered into our marriage without either of us batting an eye. But guess what? I am not so much into faded, floral, shabby chic these days. Not so much. Not at all.

So I got on that Urban Outfitters website with James' paypal in tow and reconfigured our room.

Here's a strange little dress that I found at Miracle Hill a while ago. I like it with the belt and it seems like it's for a school teacher or something. The bright colors are great and I love the pockets. My friend Ali is having a baby in July -would you wear this as a maternity dress? It would look good over skinny jeans I think, maybe hemmed to just above the last button.
